BAGHDAD, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Iraq's Ministry of Oil revealed on Saturday that the nation has ramped up its utilization of associated gas for electricity generation to 1.916 billion standard cubic feet per day, as part of its ongoing efforts to address the chronic power shortage.

Deputy Oil Minister Izzat Saber revealed that this gas utilization constitutes approximately 61 percent of Iraq's total associated gas production, which has reached 3.120 billion standard cubic feet per day.

Saber further emphasized that more associated gas will be added to the country's gas production following the completion of promising projects in southern Iraq.

With 132 trillion cubic feet of proven natural gas reserves, Iraq is committed to harnessing its gas wealth to meet critical needs, particularly in electricity generation.
