BONN, Germany, March 6 (Xinhua) -- The German logistics giant DHL Group recorded a revenue of 81.8 billion euros (89.1 billion U.S. dollars) and an operating result (EBIT) of 6.3 billion euros for the 2023 financial year, meeting the company's target, according to the firm's annual report released Wednesday.

"The year 2023 was characterized by a weak global economy and above all weak global trade," said DHL CEO Tobias Meyer. However, the robust structural trend in e-commerce has shored up DHL eCommerce and the German parcel business.

Highlighting e-commerce growth from China, Meyer noted it has indeed "become more significant in logistics overall."

Chinese companies have employed various transportation methods for e-commerce shipments, ensuring express services, freight forwarding or private charters are tailored to meet customers' specific requirements, he added.

In addition, Meyer noted that DHL is strategically positioned to tackle this year's opportunities and challenges, adding that he is particularly optimistic about the second half of 2024, foreseeing a rebound in global economic growth. (1 euro = 1.08 U.S. dollars)
