8 killed, 4 injured in traffic accident in Tunisia

TUNIS, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Eight people were killed and four others injured in a car collision in Tunisia on Tuesday, private radio station Mosaique FM reported.

The traffic accident occurred on the main road linking the southeastern province of Gabes and the southwestern province of Kebili in the evening, when a long-time driving taxi collided with a heavy truck transporting cleaning products.

Seven passengers of the taxi and a pedestrian of African nationality were killed in the accident, according to the report.

"The injured were transferred to the emergency department of the Kebili regional hospital, one of them is in serious condition," Mosaique FM added, without giving further details.
