ROME, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- World-renowned Chinese pianist Lang Lang performed at Auditorium multifunctional complex in Rome on Monday evening, the first of a series of concerts that will bring him across Europe and North America in the next four months.

Before his audience in the 2,800-seat Santa Cecilia Hall, Lang Lang played pieces by classical composers Gabriel Faure, Robert Schumann and Frederic Francois Chopin. This was his first concert in the Italian capital since 2021.

After Rome, Lang Lang is expected at Giovanni Agnelli Auditorium in northern Turin on Friday before leaving for Germany.

The pianist has performed in solo concerts and with major orchestras around the world. He has also been promoting music education for global young talents through the Lang Lang music foundation established in 2008.
