URUMQI, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Xinjiang Flying Tigers secured a 99-89 home victory over the Shandong Heroes here on Sunday, extending their winning streak to ten matches in the 2023/24 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league season.

Dominique Jones scored 27 points and dished out 13 assists for Xinjiang, while Abdusalam Abdurexit added 24 points and 14 rebounds.

Shandong, fresh from ending a three-game losing skid on Wednesday, faced formidable challenge from the league leaders today.

During the first quarter, Jones and Qi Lin combined for 17 points, propelling Xinjiang to a commanding 17-point lead, while Shandong struggled in offense and tallied only ten points.

In the second quarter, Shandong played more aggressively and Gao Shiyan hit a buzzer-beating shot to help narrow the deficit to eight before halftime.

Shangdong missed 13 attempts from beyond the arc early in the third period, but Chen Peidong hit two consecutive three-pointers to help Shandong edge closer.

The visitors continued to fight tenaciously in the fourth quarter until Jones made two consecutive floaters, sealing the victory for Xinjiang.

Elsewhere on Sunday, the Nanjing Monkey Kings beat the Beijing Ducks 109-95, the Liaoning Flying Leopards crushed the Sichuan Blue Whales 116-88, the Guangzhou Loong Lions won over the Jilin Northeast Tigers 129-122, and the Zhejiang Golden Bulls routed the Shanxi Loongs 129-112.
