Germany records significant rise in share of renewables

BERLIN, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- The share of electricity generated from renewable energies in Germany in the third quarter (Q3) of this year rose to 60.2 percent, significantly up from 44.4 percent a year ago, according to preliminary figures published by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on Wednesday.

With a share of 24.4 percent of total electricity generated, wind power continued to be the most important energy source in domestic electricity generation in Q3. The total amount of electric energy generated using wind increased by 16.2 percent compared to the same quarter last year.
