WHO calls for community-led interventions to eradicate HIV/AIDS in Africa

NAIROBI, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Realizing the HIV/AIDS elimination goal in Africa by 2030 will be dependent on greater support for community-led prevention and treatment interventions, a World Health Organization (WHO) official said Thursday ahead of World AIDS Day to be marked Friday.

Matshidiso Moeti, the WHO regional director for Africa, said that optimal involvement of local communities is key to promoting early diagnosis, treatment, and care for people infected with the AIDS virus.
