BERLIN, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Germany's economy is on the brink of recession as the country's gross domestic product (GDP) in the third quarter (Q3) of 2023 declined by 0.1 percent compared to the previous quarter, according to confirmed figures published by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on Friday.

"After the weak economic development seen in the first half of 2023, the German economy began the second half of the year with a slight drop in performance," Destatis President Ruth Brand said. Economic output almost stagnated in the first two quarters of the year.
