ISLAMABAD, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani President Arif Alvi said that his country has been striving to enhance foreign direct investment (FDI) under joint-venture programs with other countries to boost the economy.

Pakistan has tremendous potential to foster economic growth through FDI, which could be tapped by taking responsibility and forging prudent policies, the president said while addressing a ceremony in the southern port city of Karachi on Saturday.

Despite multiple political and economic challenges, Alvi said the government has made all-out efforts and introduced reforms to upgrade economic indicators.

"Improving the ease of doing business and timely decision-making played a vital role in putting the country on the path to economic stability," he said, adding that the role of the business community is crucial to making Pakistan economically strong.

Talking about women's participation in the national growth process, the president stressed that women must be employed in companies to empower them financially and enable them to play their role in the economy of the country.
