WARSAW, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- The European Commission (EC) has given the green light to the Polish Orlen Group's takeover of Doppler Energie. Doppler operates 266 gas stations in Austria, under the brand of Turmol.

The acquisition "would not raise competition concerns," the EC said on Tuesday.

The original agreement between Orlen Group and Doppler Beteiligungs GmbH was reached in July. Under the deal, Orlen is set to acquire 100 percent of shares in the Austrian company.

The value of the transaction remains undisclosed.

With 14 percent of country's market share, Turmol is Austria's third largest network of gas stations.
