Roundup: Japan, S. Korea extend winning streak in Asiad women's football


HANGZHOU, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Japan and South Korea both won their second straight group matches in the women's football competition of the Hangzhou Asian Games on Monday, moving a step closer to the last 16.

Haruka Osawa had a brace as Japan thrashed Nepal 8-0 in Group D with seven players on the scoresheet. Vietnam also bagged their second win in the same group after routing Bangladesh 6-1.

In Group E, Son Hwa-yeon completed a hat-trick as South Korea beat the Philippines 5-1, while Myanmar upset Hong Kong, China 1-0.

In Group A, Diyorakhon Khabibullaeva scored twice as Uzbekistan swept past Mongolia 6-0.

At the final two group matches in the men's competition, Uzbekistan edged Hong Kong, China 2-1 in Group C, while Japan beat Palestine 1-0 in Group D.

In the men's round of 16, China takes on Qatar, South Korea faces Kyrgyzstan, Japan plays against Myanmar, and Iran meets Thailand.
