Profile: Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda


BEIJING, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- At the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda will pay an official visit to China from Sept. 23 to 30.

During his visit, Prachanda is scheduled to attend the Opening Ceremony of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou.

Born on Dec. 11, 1954, Prachanda founded the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) in 1995. He served twice as Nepal's prime minister in 2008-2009 and in 2016-2017 respectively.

In 2018, he co-chaired the Nepal Communist Party. He currently serves as chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center).

He took office as the country's prime minister for a third time in December, 2022.

Prachanda is married and has one son and three daughters.
