AMMAN, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Wednesday announced two grants provided by the European Union (EU) with a total value of 25 million euros (26.8 million U.S. dollars).
Jordan's Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan and EU Ambassador to Jordan Maria Hadjitheodosiou signed the two grant agreements, according to a ministry statement.
Toukan said the grants will contribute to supporting the Jordanian government's development and reform efforts and are in line with economic, administrative and political modernization paths.
The grants seek to boost and develop political life in the kingdom by supporting institutional capacity-building and constitutional and legislative reforms.
For his part, Hadjitheodosiou said the two grants are fully aligned with the priorities of the partnership between Jordan and the EU, reaffirming the "strong" partnership and shared ambition to elevate cooperation.
