Police find 3 deaths after shooting in Slovenia's capital

LJUBLJANA, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Three men were found dead on Monday afternoon after a shooting that took place in the eastern part of Slovenia's capital Ljubljana, police said in a statement.

Police said two men from Ljubljana, aged 57 and 58, were found dead at the site of the shooting while another man from Ljubljana, aged 47, was found dead close to the scene.

Police assumed the youngest man was the shooter killing the other two. Local media reported that the third man may have committed a suicide.

According to the police, they have secured the place of the shooting and people are asked to follow their instructions.

For the time being the police were unable to give any further information regarding the cause of the shooting and investigation was underway.

Shootings are rare in Slovenia as according to statistics it is among the most secure countries in Europe. Citizens are only allowed to posses registered firearms and need to obtain a special permit if they want to purchase a firearm.
