ST. GALLEN, Switzerland, May 5 (Xinhua) -- The CEO of the St. Gallen Symposium, the world's leading organisation and platform for cross-generational dialogue and collaboration, on Friday called for more constructive exchange and collaboration in the world.

"We are a place for dialogue, and this dialogue is now needed more than ever in a cross-generational perspective," Beat Ulrich told Xinhua.

Under the theme "A New Generational Contract," the 52nd St. Gallen Symposium took place from May 4-5, aiming at exploring ways to preserve and strengthen institutional and inter-personal trust in a post-pandemic world. According to the CEO, around 1,000 participants from more than 100 countries attended the conference this year.

"We are confronting many challenges like artificial intelligence (AI), but with the next generation we also have many opportunities to use AI for better purposes," Ulrich said.

"We can better use technology to tackle climate change, but we can only win when we do it together and cross-generationally."

Sessions focused on issues such as the global economy in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, leadership for the next generation, digital transformation and the role of ethics, climate change and sustainability, and the future of healthcare.

"We stand for togetherness and one world. We want to bring the world back together again in this critical time," Ulrich stressed.

Every year in May, hundreds of prestigious representatives from the fields of business, politics, academia, and civil society ("Leaders of Today"), and young talents known as aspiring leaders or "Leaders of Tomorrow" take part in the symposium to foster the dialogue between generations.
