Boeing to upgrade KC-46A tanker's communications capabilities

SAN FRANCISCO, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Boeing will upgrade the KC-46A tanker's communications capabilities under a 184 million U.S. dollars contract awarded by the U.S. Air Force, the company announced on Friday.

Upgrades include line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight communications technologies with antijamming and encryption features, the company said.

According to Boeing, the KC-46A is transforming the role of the tanker for the 21st century and will continue to expand its battlespace network capabilities, including Advanced Battle Management System integration.

Boeing said it has delivered 71 KC-46A tankers, which are built on the 767 production line in Everett, U.S. state of Washington.
