Exhibition of murals from Tang Dynasty opens in Taiwan

TAIPEI, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- An exhibition of murals unearthed from tombs dating back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907) opened in Taipei Wednesday, highlighting the open and diverse social life of the prosperous feudal society.

The exhibits are 50 duplicates of artworks held in the Shaanxi History Museum, located in the mainland's northwestern city of Xi'an, which was once the capital city of the Tang Dynasty. In ancient times, mural paintings were common in palaces, temples and grottoes, as well as the tombs of the royal family and the aristocracy.
