YANGON, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar concluded a five-day youth table tennis tournament here on Tuesday.

More than 130 table tennis players aged under 25 years old took part in the Myanmar's State and Region Youth Table Tennis Competition 2022, according to Myanmar Table Tennis Federation (MTTF).

"This is an annual tournament held for young players aged under 25 years old in all regions and states," MTTF president U Kyaw Kyaw told Xinhua.

A total of 185 athletes and coaches from the regions and states in the country have competed in men's and women's teams, men's and women's singles, doubles and mixed doubles, he added.

The Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs said that by organizing youth competitions like this, it was seeking to promote the development of young talents in Myanmar.

"The tournament is aimed to nurture junior table tennis players and promote friendship among the players from different regions and states," said U Tun Thant, a director from the ministry.
