PRAGUE, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- The International Council of Museums (ICOM) on Thursday announced a new definition of a museum during its 26th general conference which has been running in Prague since Aug. 20.
The new definition, which was approved on Wednesday by the ICOM Extraordinary General Assembly, defines a museum as a "not-for-profit, permanent institution in the service of society that researches, collects, conserves, interprets and exhibits tangible and intangible heritage.
