Ledecky wins women's 800m freestyle at FINA worlds

BUDAPEST, June 24 (Xinhua) -- American star swimmer Katie Ledecky won the women's 800m freestyle title in 8 minutes 08.04 seconds at the 19th FINA World Championships here on Friday.

Australia's Kiah Melverton came second in 8:18.77, and Italy's Simona Quadarella took the bronze in 8:19.00.

China's Li Bingjie finished fifth in 8:23.15.
