FRANKFURT, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- German shares lost on Monday, with the benchmark DAX index down 230.02 points, or 1.66 percent, to close at 13,643.95 points.
Aircraft engine manufacturer MTU Aero lost the most among the blue chips, down by 5.05 percent, followed by multinational building materials company HeidelbergCement and automotive manufacturer Volkswagen, which shed 4.83 percent and 3.90 percent respectively.
Housing association Vonovia, pharmaceutical company Merck and energy group E.ON were the top three winners, rising 1.45 percent, 1.38 percent and 0.87 percent respectively.
Manufacturing and electronics company Siemens was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 345.33 million euros (419.65 million U.S. dollars).
China's Haier, a leading global household appliances manufacturer listed in Frankfurt in 2018, remained unchanged at 2.490 euros per share on Monday.
