BERLIN, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Sales of BASF rose by eight percent year-on-year to 15.9 billion euros (19.3 billion U.S. dollars) in the fourth quarter (Q4) last year, according to preliminary results published by the German chemical giant on Wednesday.
This development was "mainly driven by higher volumes and prices" although negative currency effects had an "offsetting effect," according to BASF. The company's total operating business also "performed better than expected" in the fourth quarter.
