SANTIAGO, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Chilean Ministry of Health on Wednesday reported 3,583 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, for a total of 680,740, amid a surge in infections in the middle of summer.
Health authorities also reported 21 deaths from COVID-19, bringing the death toll in the South American country to 17,594.
