LONDON, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.41 percent, or 27.44 points, to close at 6,740.39 points.
Pearson, a British multinational publishing and education company, soared 8.57 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Johnson Matthey and Burberry Group increased by 6.54 percent and 3.86 percent, respectively.
