NYC COVID-19 test positivity rate up to 8.7 pct, new cases 4,650: mayor

NEW YORK, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- New York City's COVID-19 test positivity rate on a seven-day average went up to 8.7 percent, compared with 8.53 percent one day earlier, Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted on Friday.

Meanwhile, de Blasio said that there were 286 new hospital admissions and 4,650 new cases of the coronavirus, adding that "Double down on what works this weekend. Stay home if you feel sick, avoid large gatherings, practice social distancing, and wear a mask."
