French shares close 1.22 pct lower


PARIS, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- French shares lost on Friday with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 down 1.22 percent, or 69.45 points, to close at 5,611.69 points.

Of the 40 selected large companies, 35 lost in the day.

French car manufacturer Peugeot went down by 4.21 percent, the top loser among the blue chips. French multinational rolling stock manufacturer Alstom SA lost 4.07 percent and French multinational automobile manufacturer Renault shed 3.84 percent.

French multinational advertising and public relations company Publicis Groupe advanced 1.51 percent, the top gainer among the blue chips. French international food company Danone rose 1.32 percent and French multinational pharmaceutical company Sanofi gained 0.69 percent.
