NYS COVID-19 hospitalizations hit 8,823, positivity rate 6.42 pct: governor

NEW YORK, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Total COVID-19 hospitalizations reached 8,823 on Wednesday in New York State, down from 8,929 on Tuesday, tweeted Governor Andrew Cuomo on Thursday.

Of the 212,589 COVID-19 tests reported on Wednesday in the state, 13,661 were positive, or 6.42 percent of the total, down from 7.4 percent one day earlier, said Cuomo, adding that the fatalities went up to 202 on Wednesday, compared with 165 on Tuesday.
