French shares close 0.21 pct higher


PARIS, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Wednesday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.21 percent, or 11.70 points, to close at 5,662.67 points.

Of the 40 selected large companies, 22 gained in the day.

French multinational retailer Carrefour advanced 13.42 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. French omnichannel company Teleperformance rose 3.11 percent and French international food company Danone gained 2.05 percent.

French multinational automobile manufacturer Renault went down by 2.93 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. European commercial real estate company Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE lost 2.56 percent and international steel producer ArcelorMittal SA edged down 2.12 percent.
