Roundup: Turkey's total COVID-19 cases near 2.3 mln; Oman reports 1st case of new strain

CAIRO, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Turkey, the hardest-hit country in the Middle East, reported 13,830 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, pushing up its tally to 2,283,931. Meanwhile, Oman reports the first case of new coronavirus strain.

Turkey also confirmed 194 more fatalities from the infectious virus, bringing the death toll to 22,070. The tally of recoveries in the country rose to 2,164,040.
