JERUSALEM, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- A powerful destructive tsunami hit the shores of ancient Israel in the eastern Mediterranean about 10,000 years ago, the University of Haifa (UH) in northern Israel said on Monday.
An Israeli-U.S. study, led by researchers at UH and the University of California, San Diego, published in the journal PLOS ONE, found that the tsunami, which occurred during the New Stone Age, caused the destruction of agriculture in the area, including fields, sheep and cattle.
