SANTIAGO, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Chile's COVID-19 death toll neared 16,000 on Wednesday, after 10 more single-day fatalities from the novel coronavirus disease increased the number of dead to 15,959.
According to the Ministry of Health, tests also detected 1,402 new daily cases of infection, which raised the total caseload to 576,731.
