TEHRAN -- Iran reported on Friday a new record daily figure of 14,051 new COVID-19 infections, raising the total number of infections in the country to 922,397.
Sima Sadat Lari, spokeswoman for the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education, said that 406 more lives were lost, which takes the death toll of the disease to 47,095 in the country. (Iran-COVID-19)

KHARTOUM -- Hundreds of thousands of Sudanese citizens have flocked to the historic Khalifa Square in Omdurman city since early Friday to attend the funeral of former Sudanese Prime Minister and the leader of the National Umma Party (NUP) Sadiq al-Mahdi.
Al-Mahdi's body was transferred to Khartoum airport on the day from the United Arab Emirates. An official military funeral was held for al-Mahdi at the airport. (Sudan-Former PM)

TEHRAN -- Iranian high-ranking nuclear physicist Mohsen Fakhri Zadeh was assassinated near capital Tehran on Friday by "armed terrorists," Iran's Ministry of Defense announced.
Local media reported that Fakhri Zadeh, head of the defense ministry's nuclear program, was attacked in the afternoon in Absard village, 60 km northeast of Tehran. (Iran-Assassination)

ANKARA -- Turkey recorded 29,845 new COVID-19 cases, including 6,592 symptomatic patients, Turkish Health Ministry said Friday.
