MADRID, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- The trial of three members of a terrorist cell opened here on Tuesday for their alleged role in the August 2017 Barcelona terror attacks that claimed 16 lives and left over 140 injured.

Mohamed Houli, Driss Oukabir and Said Ben Iazza appeared before the Spanish National Court to answer charges linked to two separate incidents, in which a van was driven at high speed down the packed Las Ramblas boulevard in the center of Barcelona on Aug. 17, 2017, followed by another attack in the nearby seaside town of Cambrils in the early hours of the following morning, which claimed another life.
