GENEVA, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- The resumed session of the 73rd World Health Assembly opened on Monday to address some of the most pressing global health issues and emergencies, including the COVID-19 pandemic that had claimed over 1.25 million lives and infected more than 50 million people worldwide.

The six-day session of the World Health Assembly, the decision-making body of the World Health Organization (WHO), is the resumption of a shortened two-day event earlier in May. Like the May event, the resumed session took place virtually.
