Death toll from tropical storm Eta climbs to 57 in Honduras

TEGUCIGALPA, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from tropical storm Eta rose to 57 in Honduras, and another eight people remain missing amid severe flooding, the state-run Permanent Contingency Commission (COPECO) said Monday.

A total of 1,871,709 people were affected nationwide by the storm before it headed out of Honduras on Thursday after leaving 101,722 cut off in 68 communities, and forcing 73,647 to flee their homes for higher ground.
