LONDON, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Even though there are more nurses registered now than last year, there are still around 40,000 registered nurse vacancies in the National Health Services (NHS) in England alone, the British Royal College of Nursing (RCN) has warned.

"This week NHS services in England moved to their highest level of emergency preparedness as the number of people seriously ill with COVID-19 being treated in hospital rose to more than 11,000 from 2,000 at the end of September," said the registered trade union for those in the profession of nursing in a statement Saturday.
