British stocks up 0.39 pct Thursday

LONDON, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Thursday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.39 percent, or 22.92 points, to close at 5906.18 points.

RSA Insurance Group, a British multinational general insurance company, soared 45.75 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. HomeServe and Polymetal International increased by 7.39 percent and 4.33 percent, respectively.

Rolls-Royce Holdings, a UK-based engineering company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 11.18 percent. Aveva Group, a British multinational information technology company, dropped 5.77 percent. J Sainsbury, a UK-based chain of supermarkets, fell 5.22 percent.
