LONDON, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 1.09 percent, or 63.02 points, to close at 5,728.99 points.
HSBC Holdings, a British multinational investment bank and financial services holding company, soared 3.37 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Ocado Group and Croda International increased by 2.30 percent and 2.15 percent, respectively.
M&G, an international investment manager, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 7.46 percent. Persimmon, a British housebuilding company, dropped 5.45 percent. Prudential, a British multinational life insurance and financial services company, fell 5.21 percent.
