NEW YORK, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- The number of public school students who opted for fully remote learning ticked up again last week to 54 percent of the city's total enrollment, according to the latest data issued by New York City's Department of Education (DOE).

It's a number that has steadily increased since summer when it stood at roughly 30 percent. "Using the most current data from this survey, approximately 46 percent of students are returning to school buildings this fall," according to a DOE spokesperson.
