Traffic accident kills one, injures four in U.S. Texas

HOUSTON, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed and four injured following a traffic wreck early Tuesday in U.S. state of Texas, local media reported.

The fatal accident happened before 6 a.m. Tuesday morning on interstate highway 10 just east of Vidor, a city about 160 kilometers east of Houston.

According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, a Chevrolet pickup struck a Dodge 3/4-ton pickup truck towing a car hauler with three vehicles.

A passenger in the front of the Chevrolet pickup was pronounced dead at the scene. Drivers of both cars and two other passengers were taken to hospitals, said media report.

The investigation of the accident is underway.
