NEW YORK, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- The fight against COVID-19 has seen some progress this week in New York State (NYS), with the positivity rate for test results in "Red Zone" focus areas, where the pandemic is the most severe, went down to 4.95 percent on Friday, with 6.17 percent in the past week, said Governor Andrew Cuomo on Saturday.

NYS positivity rate without "Red Zone" focus areas included was 0.96 percent, and 1.07 percent with focus areas included, said the governor, adding that these "Red Zone" focus areas are home to 2.8 percent of state's population, yet have had 18 percent of all positive cases reported this week to NYS.
