BISHKEK (Reuters) - Kyrgyzstan's parliament was set to vote on naming Sadyr Zhaparov, backed by the nationalist Ata Zhurt party, as prime minister, a Reuters correspondent present at the session reported.
Zhaparov, 51, was this week freed by his supporters from prison where he was serving a lengthy sentence on charges of taking a state official hostage in a 2013 incident. He told parliament on Saturday he would keep the cabinet line-up unchanged.
