LONDON, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose Thursday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.53 percent, or 31.78 points, to close at 5,978.03 points.
Rolls-Royce Holdings, a UK-based engineering company, soared 24.70 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. International Consolidated Airlines Group and Taylor Wimpey increased by 10.26 percent and 4.26 percent, respectively.
