Roundup: Iran's COVID-19 cases near 480,000 as daily infections hit new record; Jordan to impose 48-hour nationwide curfew

CAIRO, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- The tally of COVID-19 cases in Iran approached 480,000 on Tuesday after a new record high of 4,151 infections were detected. Meanwhile, Jordan decided to impose a 48-hour nationwide curfew to curb the fast spread of the coronavirus.

Iran, the hardest-hit country in the Middle East, has now recorded a total of 479,825 coronavirus cases, while the death toll from the disease rose to 27,419 after 227 more fatalities were added overnight.
