LONDON, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose Monday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.69 percent, or 40.82 points, to close at 5,942.94 points.
Rolls-Royce Holdings, a UK-based engineering company, soared 8.63 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Melrose Industries and Vodafone Group increased by 5.92 percent and 4.73 percent, respectively.
