LONDON, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- City Hall leaders across Liverpool in Britain on Thursday called for immediate government financial support, saying that new strict COVID-19 lockdown measures threaten the city's visitor and tourism economy, which is worth nearly 6.5 billion U.S. dollars a year.
An urgent plea signed by the region's two mayors and council leaders called on the British government to provide evidence the new control measures will work of cutting new COVID-19 cases.
