WASHINGTON, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- A Washington-based budget watchdog group on Tuesday urged U.S. presidential candidates to share their plans for addressing the national debt, which has exceeded 26.8 trillion U.S. dollars.

"Addressing the pandemic and the devastation it has caused remains the top priority right now, but whomever is inaugurated in January must also be prepared to tackle our fiscal challenges once the crisis is over and explain to the American people how they'll do it," Maya MacGuineas, president of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, said in a statement.
