BUENOS AIRES, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Argentine President Alberto Fernandez on Tuesday launched a test-and-trace strategy to contain the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, and called on the people to fight "side by side" against the pandemic.

Speaking in Rosario, a city in Santa Fe province located 300 kilometers north of the capital Buenos Aires, Fernandez unveiled the so-called "Detect Plan," which will mobilize thousands of volunteers "to actively search for infected persons, identify close contacts for isolation and expand the testing strategy," a statement from the presidency's office said.
