Spanish health minister warns of "difficult weeks" ahead in Madrid due to coronavirus

MADRID, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Spanish Health Minister Salvador Illa on Thursday warned that the region of Madrid was facing "difficult weeks" as it struggled to control the dramatic increase in the number of coronavirus cases.

Monday saw the introduction of stricter measures in the Spanish capital. Meetings can now be attended by a maximum of six people, and restrictions on mobility were imposed on 37 areas in the Madrid Autonomous Community in a bid to control the pandemic.
