LONDON, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.12 percent, or 7.10 points, to close at 5,930.30 points.
JD Sports Fashion, a sports-fashion retail company, soared 9.83 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. DS Smith and Experian increased by 8.02 percent and 4.47 percent, respectively.
Associated British Foods, a British multinational food processing and retailing company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 3.88 percent. Whitbread, a British multinational hotel and restaurant company, dropped 3.54 percent. Royal Dutch Shell PLC, a major oil and gas company, fell 3.30 percent.
